Integrating Services - Integrating Standards

3 March 2006

The Koninklijke Bibliotheek (The Royal National Library of the Netherlands), The Hague, Netherlands

The gateway into the Binnenhof (Inner Court) Ann Apps and Pete Johnston attended a workshop Integrating Services - Integrating Standards at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (The Royal National Library of the Netherlands), The Hague, Netherlands, on 3 March 2006. The purpose of this one day workshop, which followed the two day SRU Implementors Group meeting, was to highlight where there could be improvement to the integration of services or applications, possibly by new standardisation initiatives, with the main focus on integration with, or via, SRU.

The Ridderzaal (Knights' Hall) within the Binnenhof (Inner Court) The morning presentations were generally about new features of SRU given by members of the SRU Implementors Group, whereas later presentations were about a wider range of applications with a potential for integration with SRU, or between services and other protocols. Ann gave a presentation describing IESR, including some service integration issues that have surfaced during development.

The Binnenhof (Inner Court), viewed across the Hofvijer (Court Pond) The workshop was well attended by people from a range of countries, in particular from Europe. A report of the workshop is planned for the May issue of D-Lib Magazine.
