| Find It is the JRUL's system for providing links to electronic full text and other services. It takes details from one online resource (for example search results from a database such as Web of Knowledge or Scopus) and uses them to build links to other related services, giving you a quick and easy way to locate the items you want and to extend your search for information. Technically, Find It is an OpenURL resolver service using SFX produced by Ex Libris. | A description for the University of Manchester's Find It service (a transactional service). | |
| Authentication to use Zetoc via the SOAP interface is controlled by DNS domain or IP check, as for the zetoc Web interface, but Athens authentication is not supported. *Note* that the usual zetoc Terms and Conditions (http://zetoc.mimas.ac.uk/conditions.html) apply, meaning that any portal providing access to zetoc for its end users via this SOAP interface *must* first establish that they are entitled to use zetoc. | en | A description providing further servce-related information for the Zetoc SOAP service, which provides access to the Zetoc collection. |
| The IESR OpenURL 'Link-To' Resolver service provides retrieval of IESR XML records for single entities using Z39.88-2004, OpenURL Framework, syntax. Currently support for OpenURL syntax is limited allowing retrieval by identifier only using a Key/Encoded Value (KEV) request inline by HTTP. Values must be URL-encoded. | en-gb | A description for the IESR OpenURL Link-To Resolver service, which provides access to the JISC Information Environment Service Registry collection. |
Guidelines
Generally a service description will be provided for a transactional service only. For collection-based services the description of the collection is within the collection properties. However, a description of the service may be provided for a collection-based service where there is significant further service-related information.
The description should not be longer than 150 words and should be written in complete sentences using the inverted pyramid style. The inverted pyramid puts the most important information at the top, and then the remaining information follows in order of importance. Abbreviations may be used but should be explained in full, for instance: IESR (Information Environment Service Registry). Avoid information that dates quickly. Ensure that the information matches other properties in the record.
Enter the information as a single paragraph of unstructured text. Do not use (X)HTML tags. Formatting tags, such as italics, must not be included. Enclose normally italicised words within single quotes. If a list is required it should be preceded with a colon, with list items separated by semi-colons. Some non-keyboard characters may be included as SGML character entities; no others are available.
