v2.0, 2004-07-01 This is the first version of a separate metadata terms definition document, but defining version 2 of the IESR metadata. Definitions were previously included within the IESR application profile document.

This document defines metadata terms within the IESR namespace for the JISC Information Environment Service Registry (IESR). More details of the use of these metadata terms is in the IESR Application Profile.

The URI for each IESR-specific metadata term is grounded on its definition in this document.

The associated controlled lists associated with some encoding schemes are currently defined in a separate document, but will eventually be defined within the Registry.

Data Types

Name <string>
Label Character string
Definition A string of ASCII characters. No formatting tags may be included. The following characters must be encoded for XML: '&' - '&amp;'; '<' - '&lt;'; '>' - '&gt;'. A limited list of non-ASCII characters may be included encoded as character entities.
