Use IESR

The IESR provides access to a constantly growing and up-to-date catalogue of resource descriptions and information on how to access those resources. Using IESR enables you to discover new resources and exploit content within the context of your own applications via web or machine interfaces. The registry is machine-readable and freely available to all users.

IESR content is multi-disciplinary, with particular strengths in the health and social sciences subject areas. Resource types include databases, datasets, bibliographic resources, e-learning materials, e-books, e-journals, repositories, research publications and image collections.

Individual use

The IESR can be searched from the web interface using a variety of search criteria and a browse facility is also available to manual users of IESR. HTML and OpenSearch plug-ins enable you to quickly and easily add an IESR search to your website or browser to discover new electronic resources within the context of your own applications. Our RSS feed alerts you to new content and latest additions.

Machine-readable use

Flexible, machine-readable access using standard protocols is available through standard protocols. You can use the OAI-PMH (the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting) service to harvest XML data to include in your application. SRU/W and Z39.50 services enable IESR data to be included in your meta or federated search applications. IESR also offers access using the OpenURL standard.
