OAI-PMH Access Details

The basic access details for the IESR OAI-PMH service are as follows:

• Locator (base URL): http://iesr.ac.uk/service/iesroai
• OAI-PMH version: 2.0
• Maximum records: 200
• Metadata Formats: oai_dc (Simple Dublin Core); oai_iesr (IESR)
• Not supported: ListSets
• Deleted records: persistent (i.e. they show in the header records for ListIdentifiers and ListRecords)

Maximum Records

The maximum number of records supplied, aka 'chunk size', was set to 200 on 2007-02-05 (it was previously 25) after some experimentation. This yields an XML response of around 900K for ListRecords in oai_iesr metadata format, slightly less for oai_dc. The response size for ListIdentifiers is around 25K. Consideration has also been given to providing an acceptable response time.
